TAROT (Télescopes à Action Rapide pour les Objets Transitoires) are robotic observatories first devoted to measure the early optical counterparts of gamma-ray bursts. They are two identical 25 cm telescopes F/D=3.4 that cover 1.86ºx1.86º field of view on Andor CCD cameras (Marconi 4240 back illuminated). Spatial sampling is 3.3 arcsec/pix.
The principal investigator of these intruments is Michel Boër (Observatoire de Haute Provence, 04870 Saint Michel l'Observatoire, France). Two co-investigators are Jean-Luc Atteia and Alain Klotz, astronomers at the Observatoire Midi Pyrénées, Toulouse, France.
A systematic survey for stellar occultations by asteroids is maintained on these telescopes by Eric Frappa and Alain Klotz since 2003. Stellar occultations are recorded on images with tracking stopped or run at a modified speed. Times are obtained from a direct timing of the TTL signal for shutter opening/closing (dTTL delay taken into account) by a Symmetricom GPS 1PPS board.
